Harbin Polarland

Harbin Polarland, an aquatic-themed aquarium and animal observation center, is the first theme park of polar land scenes in China. The construction project of the park was completed in 2005, and it was open to visitors in 2006. In the park, visitors can see and learn about animals that live at both poles, including polar bears, penguins, arctic wolves, sea lions, arctic foxes and belugas.Themed areas above and below water allow you to see some of the regions' famous wildlife against chilly looking backdrops, and learn about their behavior in their natural habitat. The bustling underwater environments have a particularly believable look to them, with atmospherically lit glass observation tanks fitted with props to resemble a deep-sea dive.

Main ares of the park include Fisherman Wharf, Greater Khingan Range (Daxing'an Range), Whale Cove, Antarctic Penguin Island, Arctic Animals Home, the "Sun Island" Pleasure Boat, Arctic Village, Happy Sea Lion Kingdom, Sea Lion Castle Shopping Center, the Glacimarine Shark, and Submarine Train Station. 

Harbin Polarland is the best place that will get you out of the cold in winter. The displays are well presented and the park has a large range of fish, sharks, dolphins and other sea or river creatures. There are two shows, a whale show and a sea lion show, in the park which run four times daily.

How to Get

1) Tourists can take public bus (CNY 1) No. 13, 29, 88, 119, 125, 126, 211, 212, 213, 219, 346, 551, and 552 to the Sun Island Road Junction (太阳岛道口tài yáng dǎo dào kǒu ), where you can change the free bus (offered by the park) to the park.

Time for the free bus offered by the park: 10:35; 11:35; 12:35; 13:35; 14:35; 15:35; 16:35; 17:10 (the final bus)

2) The free busses also leave from the Wangjiang Hotel at 9:30am, 10:30am, 1.30pm and 2:30pm and from the Science and Technology Museum (科技馆kē jì guǎn) every fifteen minutes between 8:30am and 3:30pm.
